The tendency to please man or woman in our daily
living is very high, especially in our society, where demands from family,
friends, lecturers, challenging supervisors, to mention but a few, are ever so
rife. But the good Lord in His love and mercy asks us in Matthew 28: 29 (“ Take
my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you
will find rest for your souls”), to come to Him with all our burdens. He asks us to stop trying to cut
ourselves down to please man, but He asks us to please Him and He will give rest
to us.
I strongly believe that if Christians of our day come to the acceptance and belief of this Biblical principle our lives will indeed be filled with rest and we will live a much more stress free life. God desires that we have “life and have it abundantly”; but how can we live this abundant life, if we do not constantly seek to place the Giver of life than to please man. We need to come to this divine junction, where by we take the right route, to focus much more on pleasing God, than man. Indeed as we seek first His kingdom, all that we desire on this earth shall be given to us; peace in our families, success in our business and studies, and the other desires we seek so much to attain. He will always guide us to have peaceful and fulfilled living as we continue to remain in His love, constantly seeking to please Him.
This is our weakness, especially in such a fast moving world. But I pray that our request to our father shall be; Lord, teach me not to be a people –pleaser but a pleaser of your heart.” Amen.
